One of the most developed branches of the medical field is Neuroscience which deals with the study of the nervous system of the human body. It is considered as the multitude of several branches of biology including physiology, anatomy, molecular biology, developmental biology, psychology, cytology and mathematical modeling which are quite helpful for us to understand the emergent as well as the fundamental properties of the neurons and the neural circuits. According to the medical reports, the technologies and the different approaches used by medical science have been expanded enormously. The study of the nervous system is done on the two levels ranging from cellular to molecular level and are so called as molecular and cellular neuroscience. The study of neuroscience deals with the structure and functioning of the nervous system and brain.
Neuroscientists are the doctors who focus on the functioning of the brain and the nervous system and how it impacts the functioning of the different organs of the body. Neuroscience however doesn’t deal with the functions of all the organs but deals with most of the organs and even tells the better understanding of some of the common conditions like down syndrome, addiction, schizophrenia, epilepsy, brain tumors, ADHD and some of the effects caused due to stroke like loss of language, Parkinson’s disease and some of the disorders occurring in the immune system.
Importance of Neuroscience- if the proper understanding of the nervous system can be developed then it would be quite easier to get the proper medication and even it would help in preventing our body from the diseases listed above and others too. Any neurological disorder occurring in the body can affect your daily life routine by creating a disability.
Branches of Neuroscience- there are several branches if neurosciences which have been expanded enormously including neurology, Neuroanatomy, Cognitive neuroscience, molecular neuroscience, behavioral neuroscience etc.
Neurophysiology- It is a branch of neuroscience that deals with the branches physiology and neuroscience and it deals with the study of the nervous system. In this branch of neuroscience, we deal with the study of internal structures of the brain including forebrain, midbrain and the hindbrain and their functions.
Neuroanatomy- this branch of neuroscience deals with the study of the structure accompanied by the organization of the nervous system. The nerves that connect with
Behavioral Neuroscience- this is the branch of neuroscience which deals with the applications and the study of the physiological, genetic and developmental mechanisms in humans as well as other animals means how their behavior is affected by the actions of the brain and the nerves.
Cognitive Neuroscience- the branch of medical science that deals with the mental processes by studying the biological processes and the aspects that underlie cognition and it focuses mainly on the functioning of the nervous system.
Interventional neurology- Interventional neurology is one of the leading fields in the medical field. It is a medical procedure in which the imaging guidance of the internal body helps to cure patients more easily by using the minimally invasive techniques helpful to cure the diseases occurring in neck, spine, and brain. The open surgeries are not happening nowadays after the initiation of interventional technology.
Treatments which are done for neurological patients- depending upon the condition of the illness your neurologists will recommend you for the further treatment including EEG, EMG, Radiofrequency neurotomy, Lumber Puncture etc.
EEG (Electroencephalogram)- it is one of the best ways to diagnose epilepsy and other brain disorders too including brain tumor, stroke, head injury, sleep disorders etc. The best part of this medical procedure is that it is free from pain and risks.
EMG (Electromyography)- A medical diagnosis procedure done to diagnose the functioning and the health of muscles and the nerve cells controlling them. The relaxation and contraction of the muscles are shown through graphs, numerical or sounds. However, the procedure is free from risks but in some cases, bleeding has been witnessed due to the insertion of the needle electrode.
Radiofrequency neurotomy- the medical procedure acquired to diagnose the problems of back pain and neck pain. In this procedure, the heating of radio waves is used to target the specified nerves. The waves are transferred to the nerves by inserting the needle through the skin above the spine. The procedure, however holds some side effects like numbness, pain at the site of the procedure.
